\"Hon.Judge John R. Allen was appointed to the District Court bench by Governor Ivey on February 27, 2025.\u00a0 <\/span>He obtained his undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University in 1999 and graduated with honors from the University of Texas School of Law in 2002.\u00a0 <\/span>After law school, he was honored to clerk for United States District Court Judge Paul Brown of the Eastern District of Texas.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

Following his two year clerkship, Judge Allen practiced complex commercial litigation in Dallas, Texas at the international law firm of Baker Botts.\u00a0 <\/span>He later worked for Balch and Bingham in Birmingham, Alabama, doing corporate work and mergers and acquisitions.\u00a0 <\/span>In 2010, he opened his own general practice law firm in Huntsville, Alabama, focusing on criminal and juvenile litigation.<\/p>\n

Before taking the bench, Judge Allen served the community in a variety of ways. He served as legal counsel for the Madison County Republican Party Executive Committee, a member of the Indigent Defense Advisory Board for the 23rd Judicial Circuit, a member of the Nominating Committee of the Huntsville Bar Association, co-founder and President of the Huntsville Chapter of the Federalist Society, Secretary of the Madison County Republican Men\u2019s Club, and co-chair of the Criminal Defense Section of the Huntsville Bar Association.<\/p>\n

He has been married to his wife, Ashley Howard Allen, a Huntsville native, since 2009.\u00a0 <\/span>They have three children and are members of Whitesburg Baptist Church.<\/p>\n
