Hon. Alison S. Austin
Presiding District Judge

Judge Austin was appointed to the District Court bench by Governor Bob Riley in March, 2010. She received her undergraduate degree from Auburn University and her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Alabama School of Law. Prior to her appointment, Judge Austin served as an Assistant United States Attorney with the United States Attorney’s Office in the Northern District of Alabama from 2002 to 2010. She was selected to serve as the Northern District of Alabama’s Project Safe Neighborhood Coordinator, Project Sentry Coordinator, and Gang Coordinator. Judge Austin served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Madison County District Attorney’s Office from 1997-2002 where she served in the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Unit. Judge Austin has served on many boards and is a member of many associations such as the Huntsville/Madison County Leadership Program, the Junior League of Huntsville, and the Foster Children’s Alliance Board of Directors.
